«Il Criptoportico con Volta a Mosaico di Villa Adriana»
Archeologia Sotterranea, nuova serie, anno IV n. 4, maggio 2023, pp. 3-17
After the Inferi [Underworld] - one of the most "mysterious" and least studied places of Hadrian's Villa - we continue our exploration of the subterranean rooms and paths of the archaeological site, focusing on the oldest one: the Cryptoporticus with Mosaic Vault which owes its name to the extraordinary ceiling miraculously preserved in one of its corridors.
It is located under the Imperial Palace, south of the Courtyard of the Libraries and the Hospitalia.
It has been closed to the public for over twenty years, but underwent restoration in 1995-1997.
