7 -  TERRACE OF THE GOLDEN SQUARE
Description
The Terrace of Piazza d'Oro starts from the upper floor of the Tempe Pavilion [n. 6] and reaches Piazza d'Oro [n. 8].
It is enclosed by retaining walls which are partially visible from one of the windows on the intermediate floor of the Tempe Pavilion

As the Terrace of Tempe [n. 7] it was a long hanging garden, probably decorated with plants and pergolas. Nothing is known of its features because it has never been excavated and the antiquarian sources do not mention it.

At the southern end of the Terrace there is a secondary access to the Golden Square (n. 8), with the exedra PO55 and other rooms, that were at a lower level than the rest of the building.
In fact, in corridor PO45 there is a stair that goes up to room PO5, to compensate the difference of height.

Accessible to the public only in the part near the Golden Square.
